Introduction

On September 14th, the 45th session of the UN Human Rights Council was held in Geneva. At the meeting, the Chinese representative called on all countries to put people's lives and health first and oppose politicization of public health issues. The Chinese representative said that people's happy lives are the most important human rights. China called on all countries to adhere to the UN Declaration, stick to people-centered development approach, promote innovative, coordinated, green, open and shared development, and work for the realization of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development to fully realize the right to development.

The 45th session of the UN Human Rights Council concluded in Geneva recently. Chinese envoy calls for effective poverty reduction to facilitate human rights protection

A Chinese envoy on Tuesday called for the effective reduction and eradication of poverty so as to better facilitate the promotion and protection of human rights, when delivering a statement on behalf of a cross-regional group of states at the ongoing 45th session of the United Nations (UN) Human Rights Council. Stability and development underpin human rights protection

During the 45th session of the UN Human Rights Council, China's Permanent Mission to the United Nations Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland and the China Society for Human Rights Studies (CSHRS) held three webinars themed “Counterterrorism, Deradicalization and Human Rights Protection,” “Poverty Alleviation and Human Rights Protection” and “Xinjiang’s Population and Human Rights”. Experts warn of anti-terrorism challenges amid COVID-19, calling for cooperation

Human rights and anti-terrorism experts from China and Cameroon on Thursday warned about the challenge of anti-terrorism on social media amid the COVID-19 pandemic and lack of world leadership. Ideas and experiences regarding counter-terrorism, de-radicalization, and human rights protection were exchanged in an online seminar, which was jointly sponsored by the permanent mission of China and Cameroon to the UN Office at Geneva and Other International Organizations in Switzerland. During the 45th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, China’s Permanent Mission to Geneva and the China Society for Human Rights Studies jointly held a webinar Monday to introduce China’s latest poverty alleviation efforts. China holds webinar on Xinjiang’s population and human rights to rebut smears

A webinar was held on Sep.24th to give a true picture of the population growth and human rights protection in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and rebut overseas smears against the region’s population policies.Since the foundation of the PRC, Xinjiang has seen steadily improved living standards and better human rights protection. From 1978 to 2018, the total population in Xinjiang increased from 12.33 million to 24.86 million. The number of students at schools has risen from 10,200 to 398,700. The mortality rate has dropped substantially from 20.82‰ to 4.56‰. Health conditions of all ethnic groups in the autonomous region have been noticeably enhanced.[more..]
